Profane Faith is a project curated by Jon Wymer. It currently includes three elements:

Why call this project Profane Faith?

  • We live in a cultural context that assumes a separation between “sacred and secular” or “sacred and profane.” This is a recent distinction that I don’t think holds up under examination. Christianity considers itself to have something to say about everyday life.
  • There is profanity in the Bible in the sense of “cussing” but also in the sense that so much of the Bible and theology is directly related to how society is structured, how humans interact with each other, and all the “profane” realities of everyday life.
